Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.
An important official said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
